This information was provided by Deputy Chief of the Kharkiv Regional Agricultural Administration, Yevhen Ivanov, as reported by "Slobidskyi i Kray."

According to monitoring data conducted by the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Kharkiv Regional Agricultural Administration, winter crops in the region are in a state of dormancy, and there have been no signs of plant awakening during the past decade.

Last autumn, farmers in the region sowed nearly 240 thousand hectares of winter crops, including 237 thousand hectares of wheat. Fertilizers were used for 70% of winter crops during planting.

"Due to military actions and a challenging logistical situation, in 2022, few farms could afford to apply mineral fertilizers during sowing. Currently, farmers are recovering their businesses and adjusting their operations," said Yevhen Ivanov.

The Hydrometeorological Center in Kharkiv reported that weather conditions during the third decade of January were favorable for the wintering of winter grain crops.

"Due to warm weather, snow compacted and melted in the fields of the Kharkiv region, creating gaps. In most parts of the region, the average snow height did not exceed 0-2 cm, except for southern districts where there was no snow. On the coldest days, at the beginning of the decade, the minimum soil temperature at a depth of the node of tillering (3 cm) of winter crops dropped to 0-4°C, significantly higher than the critical freezing temperature for winter crops," the report stated.

According to agrometeorologists' calculations, the critical freezing temperature for winter crops was: at the "3rd leaf" stage, 13.1-14.0°C below freezing, and at the "tillering" stage, 14.3-16.2°C below freezing.

It's worth noting that farmers in the Kharkiv region received over 245 million hryvnias for development under the state program "Accessible Credits 5-7-9" in the past month.
