News from the Khotyn community: mental health club begins its work

To share:

The first meetings have already taken place. During this time, participants had the opportunity to be in a safe space where they could breathe, be themselves, and not keep everything inside.

We held group meetings with psychologists, as well as group work with a coach — about support, internal resources, experiencing emotions, and self-care.

We are creating this club for parents of children with disabilities and special educational needs — for those who are often the “support” for everyone else, but rarely have space for their own experiences.

There are simple but important rules here:

• You are not alone here.

• You will be heard here.

• You can show your emotions here.

• You will be supported and helped to get through difficult times here.

We would like to thank the Khotyn Inclusive Resource Center for their cooperation and for providing the space for the first meeting. We would also like to thank everyone who has already joined us for their trust and openness.

The club continues its work, and we will continue to create a warm space where you can be yourself.

The project is being implemented by the Chernivtsi Association “Zahyst” with the support of the UK Government as part of the Social Protection for Inclusion, Resilience, Innovation and Transformation (SPIRIT) Project, which is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities, and UNICEF Ukraine, administered by ISAR Unity.

Other news

  • The participants of the social event gathered around a table in a room with large bookshelves. The hostess, wearing glasses and a brown sweater, stands in the center, stacking white paper cups into a tower. In front of the girls on the table are rolling pins, work stands, plates with snacks (cucumber sandwiches, chips) and sprinkles for desserts. The atmosphere is focused and cozy, with a decorative candle burning on the table.

They are all holding Nordic walking poles and wearing warm sportswear and hats. A playground and trees can be seen in the background.

  • In the foreground on the left, you can clearly see the raised right hand of a person in a burgundy sweater. The rest of the frame is out of focus: you can see the backs of the heads of other listeners and two speakers in business suits standing next to a flipchart with colored stickers. The bright room with panoramic windows creates a professional and open atmosphere of a business workshop.
