This year's forum focuses on barrier-free reconstruction of the country.
The organizers, the League of Strong People, emphasized that they understand this reconstruction not as
separate “special programs” for people with disabilities, but as the integration of the interests, needs, and priorities of people with disabilities into all recovery policies and projects — from youth policy and education to economic strengthening, infrastructure, health care, culture, and digitalization.
The chair of our organization's board, Maria Nikitina, participated in a panel discussion on “Leadership of women with disabilities, visibility, and equal rights.”
During her speech, she emphasized that improving the visibility of women with disabilities in leadership and various social processes is impossible without unity and a comprehensive approach.
“Isolated initiatives do not produce sustainable results — it is important to combine the efforts of women with disabilities themselves, civil society organizations, state institutions, and international partners. Only joint action can overcome systemic barriers and change established approaches to the participation of women with disabilities in decision-making.” — Maria Nikitina
As members of the union, we are sincerely glad that together we can amplify the voices of people with disabilities, especially women, and emphasize on large platforms that accessibility, equality, and visibility must be the foundation for Ukraine's recovery.
