Independence in everyday life and bringing children and young people together

This is a format where we bring together children and young people with different life experiences (e.g., disabilities, displacement, difficult life circumstances) in one space and learn new skills together, try something for the first time, or practice what we have already learned.

This is how the process of inclusion is created — when we are all together, as equals, in a shared space of support, acceptance, and learning.

The main goal of these classes is to develop independence skills in everyday life: the ability to cook, work in a team, and clean up after oneself.

After all, these things, which seem simple at first glance, are extremely important for self-confidence and independence in everyday life.

This time, children and young people learned how to bake and decorate gingerbread cookies on their own. Spoiler alert: they did a great job and are already looking forward to the next class.

The project is being implemented by the Chernivtsi Association “Zahyst” with the support of the UK Government as part of the Social Protection for Inclusion, Resilience, Innovation and Transformation (SPIRIT) Project, which is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities, and UNICEF Ukraine, administered by ISAR Unity.
